Results are probably not good….impairments remember are creative accounting to get manage results. There is no interest in the management to let the price rise….no effort is being made….in fact quite the contrary, yes, market sentiments are poor, but if you look around globally the recovery stocks have recovered well….Genting is a very strange counter ….lot of small sellers may be acting in syndicate ….that what it looks like!

Yes @Choysun, GenS still bringing in the dough strongly for GenB. If we multiply this Q1 result by 4 quarters, NPAT for GenS could be over S$500m (RM1,675m) for the year 2023. There was nothing wrong with my earlier analysis months ago abt GenS and Taurx. GenS has been bringing in strong profits for the past 11 quarters.

Genting Singapore Q1 EBITDA is weaker than Q4 2022 mainly because of normalisation of VIP win rate and the fact that Q1 is seasonally the weakest quarter for non gaming revenue.

Furthermore, the arrival of Chinese tourists in Q1 was affected by low airline seat capacity (and hence high air ticket prices). Based on latest data, the airline seat capacity from China to Singapore in May 2023 only reached 51% of that of May 2019, so there is still a lot of room for the number of China tourists to Singapore to increase in coming months.

Genting Singapore Ltd.'s (GenS) first quarter financial year 2023 (Q123) results, according to the research firm, exceeded market expectations, with its core earnings tripling year over year (y-o-y) as tourists flocked back in large numbers.

It said that the core net profit for Q123, which came in at S$131.2 million, was barely 20 per cent of the consensus projection for the entire year.

"However, we consider the results as within market expectation as we expect stronger quarters ahead for GENS as tourist arrivals accelerate," it said.

"We maintain our forecasts, target price of RM5.86, and Outperform call for parent Genting," it added.
