IRR valuation method entails making 2 very important assumptions

1. The cash flow pattern
2. The validity of IRR itself

Therefore, how reliable is your assumption of the cash flow pattern for 25 years? and how valid is the 12% projection itself ? To predict the cash flow pattern, you need to estimate the interest rate, the installment payment scheme, the revenue pattern etc.

Trying to work out the VALUATION of a PLC is the toughest job to do on earth!
Looks like it's dejavu all over again like was in hy.

A simple crude way to derive, could be the mkt cap per mw of an existing good ipp plc in the same space like

YTLPOWER's installed capacity :
m'sia 1212 mw
s'pore 3100 mw
i'sia 0.2 x 1220 mw
Total 4556 mw = mkt cap $6.52 b

jaks
0.3 x 1200 mw = 360 mw
mkt cap, 6.52/4556 x 360 = ?

price = ? / 561
oso do a few sensitivity tests.
How to justify shouting 2.50 to 5.00 ??

pls be gentlemen to encourage n embrace DIVERSITY of ideas b4 the true VALUE manifests in the stock!

The main operator for Jaks (5yrs ago) was one of the "director"---Then came Ykk----Now it seems
Jaks is a back-up rally horse for Dso. Who knows another operator might comes in-------

i believe the malaysian stock market is very much a manipulated market now. only speculators and traders.

too low in cash liquidity. lots of foreign money already sold.

will take some time before they come back.

hence i believe it better to do short term trading now.

unless you have a lot of cash, its also a good time to buy for long term now. since everyone is still fearful

dun forget we are getting political uncertainty again due to dr.m's no confidence motion in may 18

PhDs and PhD thesis on IPPs.......u can google that.

1. Most uncles & unties , the laypersons , know how to read & understand DK66's brief & summarized peer comparison valuation . It is based on actual results of a similar or near similar plant . Actual facts & figures don't lie . It is most sensible , reliable & convincing without too many assumptions.
It is the concluding para which the uncles & unties are interested in for guidance :
"This article concludes that JHDP is expected to deliver EPS of between RM0.30 to RM0.40 to Jaks. At PE of 10 to 15 times, Jaks is worth between RM3 to RM6."

2. A true picture right in front of our eyes is better than a thousand words !

3. If you think Jaks is NOT a worthy investment for NOW , then wait for the actual results and buy at higher price lo , as DK66 suggests . Simple as that .

my opinion on Jaks............Jaks will not survive in its present form in next 2 years.........There will be no dividend from the IPP in these 2 years , and Jaks will not have enough cash flows to survive for next 2 years...........

I doubt Jaks can even have enough cash to meet its commitments to the IPP for these 2 years.........

Jaks aldready move above 200 days moving average. Long term look promising with the power plant expect to commence operation in June. Once MFCB announce good result I belive jaks will follow. BUY BEFORE TOO LATE.

Difference between "speculator" and "investor' is not something discrete, the boundary is not clearly defined...it falls in somewhere in a continuous range between 2 extremes.

On the far left extreme - speculation means making a decision with poorly analyzed information..crude information.....with high uncertainty..

on the other far right extreme, investment means a well analyzed in-depth research made to justify a purchase decision predicting a future event.

the former is naturally short term in nature as the information can be easily overturned unlike the long term nature of investment where the fundamentals remains relatively more resilient.

Its up to one to choose where they want to be between these two extremes.
