AirAsia share is toast. EPF cut losses and ran. Warren Buffett did the same with airlines shares. AirAsia still can't get its Jan-Mar QR out. Imagine how bad the QR for Apr-Jun will be? Run on the next rally, should there be one. Should have cleared out on Jun 10. Budget airlines like AirAsia need volume to make a profit. That is not going to happen as long as the virus problem is not solved. God luck.

Stock speculation cannot just look at performance and fundamentals. We have to look at trends and timing.

This year's AirAsia share price is the lowest ever. This is the best time to buy stocks. Don't expect RM0.70 anymore. Even RM1.20 is worth buying!

So we must seize the opportunity to buy AirAsia stocks, close, I believe the stock price will rise to RM2.++

Because the CEO of AirAsia is a very smart person, his team is also very good.

Most of the airline providers go bankrupted, Tony's AirAsia will take the opportunity to grab more passengers to fly around. AA will fly high, look at the bright side, lol.

Can you guys think logically, how can one's QR be delayed for so long? It must have been really bad ie 3 digits loss. Airlines share is doomed. Run while you can.

KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): The Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) has cautioned against direct financial assistance from the government without a clear framework to airlines that are either already in bad shape, or would have inevitably faced declines in the business.

Bailing them out in this fashion could result in anti-competitive effects or create moral hazard, it said in a commentary titled “Forms of government assistance to the aviation industry”.

“In addition, public funds would be put at risk, unnecessarily burdening taxpayers and potentially directing funds away from critical areas such as healthcare and education,” it said.

The commission pointed out that if the number of airlines is reduced, the industry could become increasingly re-regulated in the long-run.

“Countries may see a return to nationalised market access, reduced competition and higher ticket prices — further underlining the importance and role of independent oversight and regulation,” it said.

Given the risks associated with financial aid, governments should ensure that any financial assistance is provided out of a clear framework that consists of identified principles, such as non-discrimination, and specific objectives, such as minimising job losses and ensuring connectivity.

“They should be given together with predetermined conditions such as requiring proof that all commercial avenues have been exhausted (i.e. government lending as a last resort), building in a sunset clause and ensuring no unjust enrichment (by limiting executive compensation, share buybacks and dividend payments),” said Mavcom.

Therefore a clear and transparent framework should be created for the Malaysian aviation industry, like those established in the European Union (EU), US, Australia and Japan.

“The Covid-19 crisis, whilst devastating, can be a golden opportunity to introduce long-term good governance practices which will benefit all stakeholders — including aviation players — in the long run,” said Mavcom.

Mavcom pointed out that many governments have stepped in to provide relief to the aviation industry, recognising it as a key strategic sector that provides connectivity and enables essential economic activities.

KUALA LUMPUR (July 3): The overall occupancy in Asia-Pacific remained low at less than 30% with room rates close to 50% of what they were in 2019, according to CBRE’s Implications for Asia Pacific Hotels June 2020 report.

“Lockdown restrictions across the region gradually began lifting in mid-May. Until regional and international travel becomes easily available, growth will be confined to domestic and drive-leisure markets. There has been a substantial uplift in interest in easily accessible resorts,” it said.

Regional travel remained at a standstill owing to tight restrictions by authorities, significantly reduced air traffic and risk aversion by travellers. In April, visitors to Hong Kong fell nearly 100% from the same month last year, reported CBRE.

It added, “Hotel investors are still in wait-and-see mode. There is a large gap between vendor and purchaser expectations. CBRE has not yet seen any significant transactions that indicate where prices now sit.

CBRE maintained its forecast of a global recession in 2020, with a sharp downturn in the second quarter of 2020 (2Q20) and the start of a rebound in 3Q20. According to the report, in May 2020, its Asia-Pacific gross domestic product (GDP) growth forecast was revised down to -1.4% from the previous forecast of 4.2% made in January.
