YTL Power RM3.88 + 0.22 (6.01%)
Tenaga National RM14.64 + 0.70 (+5 %)

So YTL Power is still a laggard and has a big gap to chase comparing the two utilities stocks.

Short sellers have used up most the borrowed shares. They tried to buy back slowly past few days. Today they were caught as the share price keep pushing up. So towards the end they bought back in large quantities to recover the shares they have sold to be returned to lender. The buying back will be more severe next week.

The short sellers would be playing with fire 🔥 if they were to short YTL Power, the rock solid utilities stock.

Matter of facts, institutional funds are selling everyday and FFM are buying everyday for the past 2 weeks already probably our MYR is rising against USD and these FFMs doesn't want to miss out. Interesting to watch who is right in the future.

Nobody knows what is going to happen tomorrow as everything is a guessing game.
Let's recall some of the positive factors:
External:
1) Imminent rate cut in September 2024 ;
2) Dow Jones up;
3) Nasdaq up
Local :
1) Appreciation of Ringgit;
2) More inflow of foreign funds;
3) Overall improvement ofinvestment sentiment especially in blue chip stocks due to recent strong quarter results at June 2024 ;
4) Short sellers would have to rush for short covering if Bursa Market were to rally on tomorrow, Monday 02-09-2024

Ytlp will suffer short term pressure due to long gestation period to see the profit. Foreign investor will visit ytlp maybe in a year or 2. Now they rotate to Banking as they share a big piece datacenter pie by providing huge loan. After the banking play.. is all about timing. Buy when low, sell the story then buy when realisation.

UOB Kay Hian Wealth Advisors head of investment research Mohd Sedek Jantan said the index could reach the psychologically important 1,700 level in the near term.
