Come Jan 7 2022 AA will be PN17 company unless TF can magically forcing creditors to accept 0.5% as final settlement of debts owed to creditors.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 27): AirAsia Group Bhd said it continues not to be classified as a Practice Note 17 (PN17) company as part of the relief measures provided by Bursa Securities on listed issuers that have triggered the criteria for the classification.

"Air Asia will not be classified as a PN17 listed issuer and will not be required to comply with the obligations under paragraph 8.04 and PN17 of the Main Market listing requirements for a period of 18 months from the date of the first relief announcement," the group said in a bourse filing.

The date of the first relief announcement is July 8, 2020, and the 18-month period ends on Jan 7, 2022.

AA will fall to PN17 soon, just like AA. No way AA can ever pay back the debt, and no banker will ever accept that 0.5% repayment.

Third, when monies are received from the sale of advanced tickets, the correct approach of handling the amounts received is to place them in trust, and only when the services have been rendered, the airline is allowed to drawdown from the trust account.

Yes, the pandemic was unforeseen and has impacted the airline business greatly, but don’t the passengers deserve a refund ringgit for ringgit? It is unfair for AAX to treat customers, who have been loyal and supportive, by giving them in return today a mere RM10 for every RM2,000 worth of ticket purchased.

As many of the passengers may have purchased flight tickets costing only several hundred ringgit, they may even forego their entitlement altogether, as the payout is meaningless to begin with.

Hence, they have every right to demand AAX to return what is owed to them in full, even without interest. After all, paid passengers have been demanding this for a while now and all AAX could come up with was a credit. This credit now has near to zero in value and the promise of a refund has not been fulfilled.

AAX would not face this problem if the monies received were kept in trust. In addition, even the authorities should have come down hard on AAX as the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) has the powers to do so. Many have asked whether AAX or even AirAsia Group should be left off the hook just because they are impacted by the pandemic.

Furthermore, AAX had said before in its previous announcement related to this restructuring scheme that airline customers who had purchased or made advance payments for flights will receive travel credits with extended validity for future travel or purchase of seat inventory. So, why the change of classification for these poor passengers who have now been made even poorer?

Riad Asmat, CEO of AirAsia Malaysia said: “AirAsia will be operating a total of 113 weekly flights from the Peninsula and Sabah into Sarawak, with the assurance of the highest safety standards and protocols in place. This is more than double the 34 weekly flights we operate from outside of the state into Sarawak presently, and on top of the 76 weekly domestic flights we operate within Sarawak.”

“Sarawak is a very important market and strategic hub for AirAsia and we look forward to returning to the pre-Covid levels, if not better, when we used to have 558 weekly flights to, from and within the state. The airline has six A320s stationed in our Kuching hub and with this positive development we will be scaling up operations and able to provide more jobs for Sarawakians.”

To be profitable their passenger load needs to be more than 80% per flight. Having 113 weekly flights counts for nothing if the passenger yield is low

Airasia doing EV airplane in 2030

Posted by humbleisland > 2021-11-02 10:25 | Report Abuse

EV airplanes will take quite some time, but eVTOL would likely be operational in 3-4 years time if not sooner. Read somewhere that AA is looking into it, with Volocopter I think (not sure if its Volo or someone else). In any event, anyone who is interested in the space can look at Joby and Lilium, who look like the respective frontrunners in US and Europe/Latam.

PETALING JAYA: AirAsia Malaysia will be resuming flights between Kuala Lumpur and Thailand from Friday (Nov 5) following the Thai government's announcement that fully vaccinated visitors from any country will be allowed in without quarantine requirements.

It will operate a weekly schedule of four flights, from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok (twice weekly) and Kuala Lumpur to Phuket (also twice weekly).

It added that more routes would be added and frequencies increased as demand grew in tandem with the reopening of more leisure destinations in the near future, subject to approval from the authorities.

Not enough seat sold will lead to flight cancellation at the last minute and your ticket purchase will not be refunded but given credit instead.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's AirAsia Group Bhd is in talks with Airbus SE about its interest in the manufacturer developing a new factory-built freighter version of the A321neo passenger plane, the head of its cargo arm said on Wednesday.

AirAsia would seek to convert some of its 362 orders for the passenger version of the A321neo narrowbody to a dedicated freighter, said Pete Chareonwongsak, CEO of AirAsia cargo division Teleport.

Manila, 03 November 2021 - More AirAsia Philippines' destinations have reopened their borders for tourist travelers as the government continues to ease restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals.

Aside from Caticlan (Boracay), Bohol and Cebu, leisure travelers may now also fly to Puerto Princesa, Iloilo Province, Bacolod, Davao and Tacloban to enjoy their much missed getaways. These leisure destinations now only require vaccination cards in lieu of a COVID-19 test or a medical certificate.

This recent development comes as active COVID-19 cases continue to decline coupled with the ongoing efforts of inoculating more and more Filipinos in time for the holiday season.

AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson Steve Dailisan said, "Reopening of leisure travel for most parts of the country signals recovery for the tourism industry. AirAsia is definitely embracing all these developments to finally come back stronger, help more local economies thrive and recover post pandemic. The easing of restrictions provides a welcome boost to end the year on an encouraging note."
