THE SHARP INCREASE IN NUMBER MOST PROBABLY RELATED TO COVID-19 DELTA VARIANT.

I advice that better sell . Don't invest in airline. Even you got vaccination, the potential to get virus is getting high. Human body can't took too much vaccine. So , conclusion is airline can't operation for at least 2-3 years . Keep on new variant is coming out. Thailand n Malaysia is the worst impacted now by delta variant cause global gloves shortage export. Buy gloves

On the contrary to you, I think now is the best time to buy.

You can't be serious thinking that even interstate will not be allowed for 2-3 years even using common sense. Worst case scenario, they will not allow interstate till early next year. Logically, I think the government will use a different metric when majority of the population gets vaccinated, they will probably look at hospitalisation and death rates instead.

Don't buy glove stocks, ditch the glove stocks. You missed the boat last year and it isn't going back to its peak at least in a long time.

Ha Ha ha
Refering to Covid update in malaysia ie Sarawak.
Sarawak has achieve 82.5% Dose 1 and 60.1% Dose 2 ---- 30/July 2021
Similar to UK experience, despite the increase in number of cases around kuching, those INFECTED recently are in Category 1 ( no symptoms) and Category 2 (mild symptoms). This explains decrease in sarawak death rates. Those vaccinated only show category 1 and 2.
Category 3 ( X ray changes of the lung,
Category 4 (require oxygen) and
category 5 (ICU intubated on ventilator).

RM4.50 is definitely coming

When you are f××× just admit it, no need to show off your ego and call your business associates/Bankers names and threatened them with your very very strong book. You are actually really really * fxxx big time*

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes has spoken out against what he describes as “fair-weather” friends from the corporate world who ditched the company as it goes through its worst financial crisis yet, brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The budget airline tycoon however stopped short of naming who he meant, saying he preferred to reveal them in a “very very strong book” that he is currently working on.

“The biggest learning for me is fair-weather friends and fair-weather corporations that made so much money from you over the 19 years,” Fernandes said

Investment is about forecast what going to happen in future. Just throwing one question on table. What will happen once 80% of Malaysian population are vaccinated? Still no domestic travelling? That's not going to hold public from bringing down further the negative politics score. Government will allow domestic/interstate travel to pacify the frustrated citizens.

Again, AA just need to stay afloat for couple of months until domestic flights are allowed to operate. That's will be a recovery starting point. No 4.5 for sure.. but we will see visible uptrend.

What Tony is saying can be true or false but if he makes it through this pandemic, AA will soar.

Half of the investors are holding. That's a good sign, investors still not losing confidence on AA.

Joe, just adding to your point. Safe investing is predicting the future and prepare for it. What is the multiple outcome of this pandemic? And how you prepare for it?

The future of AirAsia boils down to one question: Can AirAsia survive covid? And think of what you want to do in each scenario, and the risk-reward.

On a side note. Why is AirAsia diversifying so heavily now? There is always a chance (although very low) covid will lock us down for the next few years. So what can the management do to survive?

Posted by ImmortanJoe > 2021-08-02 13:59 | Report Abuse

Very good thoughts perx. For investors, they should already expect that is will be a long term investment for now. Those with holding power will continue to do so as, since the chances for profit return is there in couple of months or 1 - 2 years. Those without holding power, will try to dump and run or cut loss.

I've mentioned it before, AA need to stay afloat while facing this pandemic. Diversifying is another business strategy to keep them alive and rolling. Heavy investment in acquiring other businesses such as gojek, etc. shows that the company has something else in mind too. It shows that AA won't die as group but rather shift their strenght to other fields if push comes to shove.

Well the future for any airline business is not certain. However, this pandemic will not be forever and travel bubble will eventually will be introduced.

Glad someone can discuss this topic with you. I just hope everyone can have decent matured discussion rather than being harsh or negative to state ones point. Those who want to see fast cash, AA is not a place to invest for now. Mid to long term investment, yes.

Once 80% vaccinated, it will be different ball game. Hope PN or whoever is incharge will make the call. Our politics is pain in ass

They should do some alternative business to help them go through this pandemic season.

BTW, Isreal is giving 3rd dose of Pfizer to people >60. A sign that covid is not going away anytime soon. A reference to influenza, whr high risk individuals (including individuals >65) are recommended to get a flu jab annually.

Another encouraging development is UK (being very bold) take the 1st step to open up even thought thier daily case numbers is not low. And the situation in UK looks to be under control so far

I think the risk is more to dilution rather than going bankrupt. AA can just keep diluting it’s shares to raise fund. A brand and dominant market leader business like AA will not be short of buyers if it decides to call it a day and let someone else take over.

Let’s go back to pre covid 2018 net profit. 1.8billion. After deducting one offs you get about 1.3billion. As of today’s price that’s a P/E of around 2.5, however post dilution after rights issue or rather rcuids it’ll be around P/E of 3. Isit overvalued? You judge for yourself.

If hardworking take a look at their financials from 10 years ago up to 2018 what is their growth in revenue and net profit. 2019 is the year they sold their planes and effected by accounting standards which has no effect on cash. You need to dig deeper to find its real cash flow from operations and how much they really make. AA has always been cash flow positive.

The pricing war may consolidate post covid. Just like the US big four. Then the margins will be way better. They can have price war for only so long and when they realize it’s not right to throw cash especially after covid consolidation will happen. Even MAS CEO said no more crazy price wars. Otherwise MAS will just be throwing taxpayers money like so many years before. And one day the Gov might just say enough is enough.

Also AA trimmed off money sucking Indian and Japan operations. That’s a good thing to just focus on money making markets.

All the above haven’t take into account of its digital venture which has started way before covid. Many people think they diversify because of covid but actually they started 2 years before that. Now they accelerate it, if any one of their digital ventures makes money that will trickle down to the bottomline of cash earned. Teleport first year revenue 200m. 2nd year 400m. Ebitda positive. Just imagine the growth down the years, they even buy their own cargo plane and converting AA’s airbus to remove all seats to cater for cargo. Go check out their network of destinations you will be amazed.

Businesses takes time to grow and make money. Most investors buy into AA’s business model and future prospects.

So i think most ppl invest in AA will hold and let it do it’s thing until life gets back to normal. We are in no hurry. It’s good the even 17k cases and announcement of rcuids the price still holding quite well after taking into consideration of the dilution price adjustment.

Ofcoz there are alot more who buy shares and want to sell tomorrow or next week for fast money. That’s why these people are so anxious. When it doesn’t happen they cut lose and curse the company.

Great management, market leader, ASEAN population and income growth. All these bodes well for AA.

Chill and relax.. see you guys in the skies soon…

Posted by ImmortanJoe > 2021-08-02 15:04 | Report Abuse

You are right. We have to live with this virus. The country is just try to bring down the critical case and reduce ICU occupancy. Eventually we and other countries will follow UK and China footstep. Booster will be annual routine just like influenza vaccine.

A business man will always have plan B to safe his/her empire. For AA, Tony is going all out to keep the business alive. We can see it with his new business venture, loan request, etc. This company will be a good case study for many in coming years.

To investors, please assess the current and future situation before making any investment. Investment comes with risk and it can be due to any reason. Same goes to AA, sometimes the tough gets going and will see light at the end of tunnel.

Glad to chat with you perx.

On a side note politics are ugly as usual in Malaysia.

I remember reading that 3rd dose will be given only to high risk and those who have immune system problems.

UK is doing very very well. Hospitalization and death remain low. Many are surprised by their sudden drop of cases despite Delta and the European Cup with so many people in the stadiums and on the street.

It will become endemic. US is studying how well the immunity from vaccines lasts and they found out that T cells have very good memories and is effective even after a two years into the pandemic. Their problem is that they have alot more anti vax community who are not willing to take vax. So it is essentially a pandemic for the unvaccinated for the US.

Hi Dicky.. notice that you are strongly against AA and foresee it will succumb soon based on chat history. I respect your input, where some of it brings up valid but debateable reasons. Have you invested in AA? If yes, maybe you can advise your exit strategy, it will help some of the investors to have more options in managing their AA stocks. Maybe they can apply the same ideas to other investment as well. It will be a good discussion I bet.

Currently the results shows that 95% of the vaccinated ppl are getting no symptoms -( category 1) or mild symptoms ( category 2).
However if the situation changes, I will reconsider my investment in AA shares. In the meantime, the future looks bright for AA.
1) Vaccinated ppl are only getting no symptoms or mild symptoms
2) Malaysia Vaccination process is awesome. About 500,000 doses per day. We should be back to normalcy in 2 months time once 80% of the population get vaccinated.

Thai AirAsia (TAA) has suspended all flights this month and deferred paying its staff either wholly or partially until September.

The airline, regarded as one of the most robust domestic carriers, has faced a financial crunch from consistently low passenger volumes since the Covid-19 pandemic began early last year. All domestic airlines including this one also suffer from a lack of cash flow.

The airline stopped flying after the restrictions were launched last month. It says all flights will stay grounded for now after efforts to secure loans were in vain.
