furthermore, who would subscribe for the 3% coupon bonds while they can buy the mother shares to enjoy over 7% dividend yield and almost 100% capital gain in next 2 years??

You buy redeemable bonds only to get a fixed coupon of 3% without the chance to ride on the common stock potential capital gain, as the bonds will be redeemed at cost upon expiry.

Perhaps when YTLP mother share rises above RM4.00 next year and dividend yield falls below 3% then only the issuance of a 3%-coupon bond would appeal to investors then.

When the profit of YTLpower is good, the management of YTLPower is very kind to all shareholders to give out high yield dividend around 6% to 7%.
When the share price is below 1.43 sen in 2010, 10 sen dividend was given out.
The dividend yield is 7%.
Tan Sri promised to give out a dividend of 15 sen in 2024.

@dragon328 thanks for the explanation. getting a better understanding of how these warrants work. one question, does warrant always rise in tandem with mother share? I was made to understand that there might be another type of warrant which the opposite is true.

@dragon328 of course the coupon will be higher if issued now, big insurance company will most likely to buy bond for their fix income portfolio, sometime stock exposure for them is too big, especially saving fund. there sure to be market for them.

@jeffchan1901, conventional warrants always rise in tandem with the mother shares, but there are other types of alternative warrants which may do the oppposite.

Conventional warrants are issued by the company itself to raise equity money when warrant holders exercise the warrant to convert into mother shares, often 1 warrant to 1 mother share. The tenor of these conventional warrants are long at 5 years typically.

Call warrants are issued by broker houses like CIMB or Maybank or Macquarie Bank, and not issued by the company itself. eg. YTLPower-C33 is a call warrant issued by CIMB at conversion ratio of 1.5 call warrant to 1 mother share. But these call warrants are not exercisable nor convertible to mother shares, but are cash settled at expiry which typically falls within 6-9 months of issuance. Call warrant prices rise in tandem with the mother share according to the conversion ratio, eg. YTLP-C33 will rise 2 sen if the mother share rises 3 sen.

Put warrants are opposite of call warrants, in that their prices fall when the mother shares go up.

@OTB, with 2023 EPS of 24.96 in 2023FY and payment of 2.5 cents dividend and coming 3.5 cents, hopefully there will be a special dividend for all. for the past years, it pay more than 50% of the earning as dividend. Some year as high as 90% of earning. 10 cents will be very good!!!

@dragon328 I understand now, thank you. Yes, that's the name put warrant. on this note, I saw YTLP also issue Bonus Issues over the years.. e.g. 2008, 2014, 2017. In your opinion, what are the likely hood they will do so again (if ever)?

Just switched my line to Yes 5g after trying it out for few weeks. Their plan is very competitive, see if they can capture more market.

The YTLPower-C33 is a call warrant issued by CIMB at conversion ratio of 1.5 call warrant to 1 mother share. What happen to the outstanding call warrants upon expiry? Will the warrants be “converted” & cash settled by CIMB e.g. for 1000 warrants mother @ 3.00, the holder will receive RM2,000 cash credited to a/c. Am i right?

there is no conversion for call warrant. it is either cash settled or "burn", that depend whether the CW is in/out of money...

@hoplanner, YTLPower-C33 is a call warrant issued by CIMB with conversion price at RM1.65 and conversion ration of 1.5.

Upon expiry, this call warrant will be cash settled by CIMB. If YTLPower is at RM2.55 then YTLPower-C33 will be settled at
(2.55 - 1.65)/1.5 = RM0.60 per warrant.

The following events will enhance the share price of YTLPower.
1. Listed in FTSE Asia-Pacific index on 18/9/2023.
2. YTLPower might be added to FBMKLCI component stocks in December's review. Presently, YTLPower ranks no 26.
3. Good Q1 Sep 2024 result releases in November 2023. I believe the result is definitely better than Q1 Sep 2023 result.
4. Tan Sri Francis Yeoh promised to give out a dividend of 15 sen for FY2024.
5. The target price set by HLIB in 2023 is 2.90, I believe it is achievable.

Good luck to all investors here.
Thank you.

I think YES has high potential due to implementation of 5g by DNB. The playing field has become more open not like last time. In fact, YES has very good offer for home 5G internet and pre/postpaid line for mobile too.

Since YTLPOWR-C33 was mentioned, I would like to give comments on structured co-warrants. Out of 10 persons, 9 persons will lose in gambling co-warrants. Lets take today's MBMR C1 for example. All investment banks give warrant matrix (linking the co-warrant price and the mother share price) except CIMB. You should print out the warrant matrix. Today it is the ex-dividend of 26 sen for MBMR. The value of the MBMR-C1 starts with 20 sen lower value compared to cum-dividend. Mother share holders will be given dividends but co-warrant holders are not entitled for any dividend. Mother share drop an additional 8 sen, and the co-warrant follows the mother share to drop.

Structured co-warrants got time decay. Every 20 days it will drop 1 bid (including Saturday, Sunday and public holidays). Those gamble in HSI co-warrants and put-warrants even worse. Everyday the value drops 4% of the previous day price. Because it is cheaper, gamblers buy a lot. It is very hard to predict whether HSI will go up or go down. 10 gamblers, 9 will lose because it must be FIFO (fast in fast out).

Hopefully 2.19 is crossed convincingly today.

1.) List in FTSE Asia-Pacific index on 18/9/2023.
2.) YTLPower might be added to FBMKLCI component stocks in December's review. Presently, YTLPower ranks no 26.
Note :
I recalled the share price of Supermx in 2020, when Supermx is included in FTSE's Asia-Pacific index and also included as a component stock in FBMKLCI index, the share price of Supermx moved up north from 3.60 to a high of 24.50 in 2020.

Will this phenomenon happens to YTLPower in 2023 ?
Hope for the best and good luck to all investors in this forum.
