If YTLP gonna win the Project 3B, sbb will be the first one to hike up the price first and let no other speculators have chance to speculate the stock.... bcs YTL doesn't like speculators...

Beautiful Monday. Sbb won't reach 10%. Some say they will give back the shares, some say it will be cancelled... oi prefer cancel the shares to increase the share value... and the will hit 1.00 soon... :) :)

Another company which regularly buyback their share like YTL Power, Hap Seng has managed to buyback more than 9% and the stock has increased more than 50% since they started it. Can YTL Power follow? 50% from lowest mean 2.10 for YTL Power.

Interesting criterias that they set and seems like only 1M bhd can meet their "standard"...

just a noise showing they r doing some jobs..when u get call means that u stand a gd chance of getting it. The authority just want to make sure all are properly compliance. In other words to say, they need YTLP to make sure everything is ok when come to implementation.

"bumi agenda" is not major as Ranhill Power is its partner in this project...

National interest on 1M bhd is bigger focus due to its debts level and future income require... haha

YTL Power readies itself for asset acquisitions

PETALING JAYA (Nov 25, 2013): YTL Power International Bhd, armed with a RM9.5 billion warchest, is readying itself for some potential asset acquisitions and capital expenditure (capex) which may include water treatment and power plants, said MIDF Research.

Recently, the listed utilities arm of YTL Corp Bhd was reported to have shown interest in Ranhill Energy & Resources Bhd's water treatment assets in Johor.

"Although there have not been any further updates on this, (YTL Power) management has indicated that they are indeed aggressively scouting for 'good buys' in the market, and will not discount the possibility of venturing into the water and sewerage business locally as they are already equipped with the technical know-hows and experience from managing Wessex Water," MIDF Research said a report last Friday.

It also believed that YTL Power is conserving its cash reserves for the estimated RM12 billion capex needed for commissioning the Track 3B project to build a 2,000 coal-fired power plant.

YTL Power has emerged as a strong contender to win the project after it outbid national utility, Tenaga Nasional Bhd by submitting the lowest bid at 25.2 sen per kWh.

YTL Power had proposed to build the power plant in Tanjung Tohor, Johor which is targeted to start by 2019. The winner of the contract will only be announced in early 2014.

MIDF Research said YTL Power is looking to cement a stronger footing in the independent power plant (IPP) scene with the impending expiry of its first generation power purchase agreements (PPAs) for the Paka and Pasir Gudang power plants.

"Management has expressed their strong interest to make their comeback as a top-notch independent power producer and remain competitive in the power generation landscape," the research firm added.

MIDF Research said YTL Power could also use its cash hoard in preparation for some other projects that it was reportedly eyeing, namely the proposed high-speed railway mega project between Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, and a redevelopment project in Johor.

The research firm is remaining its "neutral" call on YTL Power at RM1.93, given the underperformance of its Singapore unit Power Seraya Ltd due to pricing pressure which remains "burdensome for the group's earnings altogether." However, it has raised its target price to RM2.05 from RM1.60.

"On top of that, until the official decision is made for the winner of Track 3B project, we take a conservative stance on YTL Power's Malaysian power generation operations where the Paka and Pasir Gudang PPAs are set to expire in September 2015, and thereby ceasing earnings contribution from this segment from thereon," it added.
