@UncleFollower, no choice, the game is controlled by those big institute player. They are observing how many ikan bilis in the net, if not much, they will push up the share price to attract more. Once the net is full with ikan bilis, they will start hunting, short sell until the price break new low, then repeat again.

For us, we treat Bursa a place to reserve and generate wealth for long term, for those institution player with billion of hot money, it is just a place for them to hunting, they have no intention to park their billions into 1 counter and wait for it to grow over the years.

YTLPs 4QFY24 results were in line as Wessexs return to profitability offset further tapering at PowerSeraya. This should alleviate investors concerns on earnings delivery. With share price having corrected by >30% from the peak, we believe risk-reward has turned favourable. Upgrade to BUY with a lower SOP-based TP of MYR4.70 (-10%). Potential re-rating catalysts include 1) affirmation of Wessexs recovery over the medium-term, and 2) positive progress on its AI compute business.

Dear Dragon, thank you for your good report.
Note that YTL Comm has made profit of RM 37m. In the quarterly report, the company just briefly mentioned it was due to higher project revenue. Do you think they can continue to turnaround and register some profits next year? If yes, it will be a big boost to YTLP as well as it was losing RM 268m last year.

@ValueInvestor888, the Yes 5G division registered a small profit in Q4 FY2024 due to recognition of some project revenue. I am not too sure if there will be any more project revenue to be booked in FY2025.

In my own projection, I do forecast small project revenue recognition which will offset against small losses in the 5G retails segment in FY2025.

Some review pointers moving ahead for YTLP....
1) Really glad that there is good diversification to the revenue and profit rather than heavily relying on powerseraya, as we know moving forward, power will lose the natural gas price advantage and also the strengthening of RM against SGD - at 3.50 in Q2 and now at 3.35 (loss of 4.3%)
2) Wessex and 5G showing profits - hope this can sustain
3) potential incorporation of Ranhill equity share profits - although this will be small for now
4) not sure why no revenue at all from DC operations or perhaps to start only towards 2024 year end? Isn't Sea Ltd contributing anything yet?
5) No mention of brabazon project and/or state of project progress etc, which is surprising? Perhaps revenue recognition is still far ahead
6) Digital banking license operations will commence soon, and initial operations losses will start be to recognised (similar to Aeon Cr) for the first year or perhaps more, need to be prepared for this
7) The corporate proposal section of the Qtr report is left blank. This shd at least contain the brabazon project and/or DC plans ahead?

@Beta Ipoh, I do not know when exactly Brabazon project will hand over the keys to the first phase buyers, but I have assumed meaningful earnings contribution from this Brabazon property division to YTL Power in FY2025.

The first few phases tend to be residential landed homes, we may only see commercial property offerings a couple of years down the road.

@raymondroy, the colocation data centre with SEA Ltd is only completed the first phase of 8MW, the remaining 24MW to be rolled out progressively over the next few months. As the 1st phase of 8MW was completed in early April 2024, I understand that YTLP has recognised some start-up costs in Q4 FY2024 which has offset against the earnings contribution from the 1st phase. I hope we can see more meaningful contributions in quarters ahead.

When there is earnings contribution from the colocation data centre, it will be parked under Investment Holding activities. I hope they will segregate this segment out when earnings contribution becomes meaningful later.

As for the digital bank JV, YTLP has issued a statement to say that it is well on track for commercial roll out by end 2025.

You are probably right that there will be start-up losses from the digital bank JV, and these start-up losses should be capitalised as capex in 2024 and 2025 before the commercial roll out.

After the commercial roll out, initial operational losses should then be expensed off in the P&L and I have budgeted for some losses in FY2025 and FY2026. On the hindsight, I think now I should have moved the loss in FY2025 to FY2027 as such loss should be capitalised instead in FY25.

The prospect of the company is strong. But with so many on its plate, should we adopt a more conservative view? Delivery of the projects is altogether a different matter. We can make all the cash flow projections, but can it be delivered?

You can sign many contracts - question is, again, can you deliver?

Though YTL is a strong name... Having too much to eat in a short time may not be ideal as well...

Assuming Ranhill flies high by 200% from now to mkt cap $6 Bill, how much that contributes to YTLP's mkt cap?
YTLP's most recent QR said Ranhill contributed by '000s of million.

the math says;
$4 Bill gain x (53% stake x PE of 9) of ytlp = $19 Billion mkt cap added to YTLP!
