@Apple888, the telco 5G business of YTL Power is no doubt disappointing so far, as much as I wished for Yes to break even as early as in Q3 FY2024, it disappointed us with a bigger loss.
For the upcoming Q4 FY2024, I would expect smaller loss compared to Q3 as they would have signed up more 5G subscribers from expansion into smaller cities like Ipoh and Alor Setar. But I hope I am wrong and Yes would turn around in this Q4.

Dragon328..yea 5g business should hav less loss coming qr.
Would DNB share subscription hav any impact to qr financial result?
The telco business is expected to continue its losses until breakeven is achieved, and this will take time, im not expecting a turnaround in next qtr, similarly the digital banking business is also expected to show initial losses. AEONCR has forecasted their digital banking business toshow RM160m losses in a year of which 50% or RM80m belongs to AeonCr and therefore qtrly losses of RM20m.... and similar will also be seen in YTLP.
YTLP needs to brush up its recurring income to offset this small initial losses with the main contention being wessex power. Now that UK has so called come out of recession, and with the increased tariff (not sure is applicable next qtr) will there be a turnaround? Following article (too optimistic tho...)

Q4 FY2023 is 1B profit, what is your estimated profit Q4 FY2024 based on current UESP? (which i think is quite weak). For jun only recorded around 150.
My estimate is for YTL Power to achieve net profit of RM850m to RM950m in Q4 FY2024

One trillion (RM) of investment on data centers is coming to be set up in Malaysia from 2024 to 2028.
Major investors to set up these data centers are Amazon, Apple, Goggle, Microsoft and Nvidia from the USA.
There are 280 MW of data centers in 2024, this figure will increase to 3,221 MW in 2028, an increase of 11.5 times.
Based on DC Bytes projections, CGS (broker) said the data centre capacity in Malaysia is expected to deliver a 32% to 56% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in 2023-2028, far outstripping the 8% CAGR forecast for Singapore.
The current electricity (power) usage in 2023 is > 20.0 GW, additional new capacity of power to be added by 2030 is 10.5 GW. It means extra 50% of electricity usage by 2030 due to the increased capacity of these data centers and population growth.
The high usage of electricity will benefit YTLPower (in Singapore) and Tenaga in Malaysia.
The GDP growth of Malaysia in 2023 is around 3.7%, it is projected to grow to around 4.5% in 2024.
The total GDP of Malaysia is around 2 trillion (RM), 1 trillion investment from data centers in the next 5 years means 200 billion (RM) is added to the GDP of Malaysia each year from 2024 until 2028.
If the above statement is true, the GDP growth will be increased to 8% to 10% each year from 2025 to 2028. (I assume the investment (money) will come in a big way from 2025 onward).
Looking back into history, the last GDP growth of 8% to 10% in Malaysia happened in the early 90's.
In 1993, there was a super bull market in our lifetime due to a high GDP of Malaysia around 10%.
If I am not mistaken in 1993 bull run, FBMKLCI index almost double in 1993 bull run. FBMKLCI index started to move up north from around 500 points to around 1300 points in 1993.
Likewise, I expect a bull market to start from 2024 to 2028.
The present FBMKLCI is around 1477 in 2024, I hope the FBMKLCI index can double to 3,000 points in 2028.
I hope the second super bull run starts from 2024 onward and last until 2028.
Please read this link.

Quote from The Star 19-6-2024
""As of June this year, nine data centre projects with a combined capacity of 1,280 megawatts have been completed in the state, while six other projects with an estimated capacity of almost 1,490 megawatts are in the process of being completed.
"On top of that, there are 30 other projects that are in discussion and approval level,” he said in a statement here on Thursday (June 20)."

Electricity System Reforms. APAC markets, including mainland China, Malaysia, and Taiwan, have implemented significant reforms to their electricity systems. These reforms provide renewable-energy developers with new ways to sell power, including directly to companies, replacing traditional offtake mechanisms such as feed-in tariffs (the price renewables developers are paid for selling power to the grid) and grid-reliant power purchase agreements (PPAs). The reforms encourage innovation and flexibility and boost market efficiencies, thereby creating a more supportive environment for renewables developers.
Regional Power Trading. The growth in cross-border regional power trading is helping to encourage the development of renewable-energy projects. Recent initiatives include the expansion of a regional power grid serving members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). In addition, under a renewables pilot project, Singapore is importing up to 100 megawatts of hydropower from Laos via Malaysia and Thailand using existing grid infrastructure. Policymakers in the East ASEAN Growth Area (EAGA) are also developing a legal framework for renewable-energy certificates that promises to boost demand among companies in the EAGA.

Following are the USEP movements which are the primary revenue indicator for seraya power provision :-
Average USEP in S$/MwH and Average demand in Mw.
Q2 (Oct-Dec23) - 176.78 : 6,283
Q3 (Jan-Mar24) - 159.48 : 6,290
Q4 (Apr-June24) - 227.08 : 6,606 (Note)
Note - I have only compiled the June data from 01-22 June, as thats the only available for now. The monthly for Q4 are as follows (average) -
Apr - 288.71 : 6,638
May - 240.96 : 6,642
June - 151.56 : 6,528 (01-22 June only)
Therefore, based on the above YTLP is expected to generate higher revenue in Q4 compared to Q3 and Q2, and assuming expenses stay about the same, we shd see higher profit in Q4 from power as compared to last reported qtr results. Q4 saw higher USEP and higher average consumption.

TA reiterates Buy on YTL Power with a target price of RM6.25. YTL Power is one of the top Buy stocks in TA's big cap picks for 2H 2024.
I see its target price to be achieved in 2H 2024, and will need to be upgraded early next year.

@Agjl, YTL Power stock may not be shariah compliant now likely due to its compliance on the debt/equity ratio. Just as some local funds complained of high debts situation at YTL Power last year, foreign funds saw it differently as YTL Power strong earnings rebounds since 2023 would be able to serve the interests well of any additional borrowings. The slightly higher debt/equity ratio is not an issue to foreign funds, and they are correct in the sense that YTL Power gearing is coming down.
You need to look from another angle, now that YTLP stock is not shariah compliant yet its share price has jumped up 7x in a year. When the stock becomes shariah compliant later, more local funds will be able to buy in and the share price will get another round of boosts.

Hope the share price of YTLPower can close above 4.94 today.
4.94 is the 20-day EMA line.
Once 4.94 is crossed convincingly, Parabolic SAR, Force Index and daily MACD will start to show the buy signals subsequently.
The uptrend will start and the share price will break new high soon.
Good luck.
Thank you.
